SpeedSize ensures that there is no downtime while your images are being processed. When a new media file is requested, SpeedSize fetches the original content and immediately serves either the original asset or an optimized image candidate (the best version we have processed to date) while the file is being processed.
On the first request for an asset, SpeedSize’s Edge CDN either performs a 302 redirect to the original media or generates a temporary compressed version to ensure users can access the content without delays. During this time, SpeedSize employs its proprietary Psychovisual AI compression to create the optimal media format using advanced resizing technology, maintaining image quality while minimizing file size.
Once the optimization is complete, the final AI-compressed file is cached, and future requests will be served from the cache, resulting in faster load times and improved performance. This seamless process guarantees that users never experience downtime or disruption while images are being optimized.
For new transformations or formats, SpeedSize’s infrastructure may download the file multiple times in the background to ensure availability at different edge locations. However, users will always receive a responsive experience with either temporary files or the original media until the final optimization is complete.
